About Kalmar Township
Kalmar Township is located in Olmsted County, Minnesota and surrounds the city of Byron. The population was 1,196 at the 2000 census.
The township was organized in May, 1858 and named after a seaport in southern Sweden, noted for a treaty signed there July 20, 1397 that united the kingdoms of Sweden, Norway, and Denmark.
